Viewing and Saving Tif files on Windows Computers

How come nothing happens when I select an image file from the Digital Image Gallery or Colors & Finishes page?

Most likely your browser is set to block pop-up windows. In Internet Explorer, use the 'Tools' section of the tool bar to enable all pop-up windows from www.asiearthforms.com. Make sure there are no other pop-up blockers enabled, such as those found on the Google and AOL toolbars.

Why can't I view or download the Tif images in the Digital Image Gallery?

Since 'Tiff', or 'Tif', files are not native formats to your web browser, a third party plug-in is required to view and download these image files.

Apple's QuickTime plug-in is most commonly used for this purpose, but its' download capability is limited to the 'Pro' version of the program. Browsers with the standard QuickTime plug-in installed may be able to view the Tif images, but not save them to disk.

We recommend using the AlternaTiff plug-in for viewing and downloading tif images. If the QuickTime plug-in is not already installed in your system, you can download and install AlternaTiff from www.alternatiff.com. Follow the 'Installing AlternaTiff' instructions below.

If QuickTime is installed, you will need to disable its' Tif file handling capabilities before downloading and installing AlternaTiff. Skip down to 'Disabling QuickTime...' below to do this.

If you're unsure whether the QuickTime plug-in is installed in Internet Explorer, follow these steps:
1. From the 'Tools' menu, open the 'Internet Options' window (you can also open the Internet Options dialog by right-clicking on the IE icon on your desktop, then selecting 'Properties').
2. In the Internet Options window, choose the 'Programs' tab. Click on 'Manage Add-Ons' and determine if QuickTime is installed. If it isn't, you're ready to download AlternaTiff from www.alternatiff.com.

Disabling QuickTime plug-in for Tiff files:
1. Launch QuickTime by clicking its' desktop icon, or by using the 'Start' menu (find QuickTime under the 'All programs' selection).
2. Click the 'Edit' menu from the QuickTime toolbar and select 'Preferences:QuickTime preferences'.
3. Select 'File Types', then expand the Images secion by clicking on the '+' button.
4. Deselect 'TIFF image', save changes, and quit QuickTime.

Installing the AlternaTiff plug-in:
Go to www.alternatiff.com. To install in Internet Explorer, select 'Option 1, ActiveX control, Auto-Install', and follow the instructions. Be sure to set AlternaTiff to handle Tif formatted files.
